Why it’s a winner: Not too stiff, not too solid, this youthful style still offers enough structure and polish for film’s most formal event of the year. It’s a great strategy for layered hair, says Damien, and the wonderful toffee and caramel highlights provide plenty of depth and dimension.

  1. Prepare hair with Joico Color Endure Shampoo and Conditioner (Sulfate Free)
  2. Apply Joico Power Whip Whipped Foam to damp strands
  3. Blow dry with a large, round brush, producing maximum body and volume
  4. After blow drying each section, immediately set it on a large Velcro roller to add body and polish
  5. Dry and set the entire head, securing each roller with a clip or pin
  6. When hair cools, release the rollers, and gently brush through
  7. Divide the head in half with a chevron-shape section from the crown to the back of the ear on each side.  Clip away the top section
  8. Gather the bottom section into a low ponytail and secure with a small, clear elastic
  9. Grasp the center of the ponytail, twist and direct the tail upward, creating a loose bun
  10. Secure the bun, covering the ponytail elastic
  11. Release the top.  Subdivide into 2-inch sections, spray each subsection with Joico Power Spray Fast-Drying Finishing Spray and lightly backcomb with fingers (maximum of two backcombing strokes.)
  12. Tip the head back, subdivide the top and gently guide each section toward the crown.  Twist each section and blend it into the back area, pinning it just below the crown
  13. Mist with Power Spray">
